Corona lockdown day 111

Today began with a baby grackle talking loudly to its parent under my window at 5:30am. Since I was up early I decided to go for a jog. There were more people out at 6am than I expected. Mainly walking dogs. Some smoking cigarettes.

The Kingston situation is currently that there are 30 active cases. There are a number of businesses that are closed now in addition to a number of nail salons. One person who tested positive has visited a clothing store and so now that clothing store is closed for 2 weeks. In other cities, they just clean the store and reopen but not here. Maybe it is that it is less essential than a grocery store, which are the previous examples that I have heard from other areas.

The enforcement process is:

To enforce this order, Public Health officers will be calling every individual who has been ordered to self-isolate every day of their quarantine and if they do not answer the phone, Public Health officers then have a warrant to show up at the person’s home to see if they are there. If the person is not there, then they will be fined unless they have a “very good reason” that they are not home, Dr. Moore said.

However, with everyone having cell phones these days, how does calling them assure that they are at home? And what if you miss the call but are at home? And what about if the person waits for the call and then goes out? This seems difficult to enforce to me!
