sick day

Last night James was feeling a bit off but managed to power through 4 hours of hockey. This morning he had a fever so he stayed home. He slept most of the morning. I did some grocery shopping as I had the day off work as well.
I have to write a proposal for a summer position tonight.
Tomorrow we aren't participating in Halloween. James has not done anything for it for at least 4 years. He normally had hockey. He has hockey tomorrow if he is up for it.
Survivor appears to still be on despite Halloween. I also have car videos to watch for my course.

snow

Today I woke up to snow and now don't know how to dress anymore.

I put away the summer wear on Friday, which was clearly a good step. But I don't know if I should wear a winter coat? Which boots? Why can't it be warm all year? So many more questions to deal with today.

Yesterday we worked on James' final submission for his Toronto trip. What I found was that the pictures that he took had less to do with the project and more to do with things that he found interesting or funny. So we had to make do. Like this one:

K9

This morning technology alerted a business owner to a break in and the called police. The police evidently sent the K9 unit and the owner arrived a short time after. The suspects were still at the scene. But must have hidden when they saw police arrive. So they released the K9. This K9 evidently is very good at his job as he made quick work of finding the suspects in the dark. Also note that a take down by a K9 must be pretty violent as the people he took down needed to go to the hospital. Also to note that crying out in surrender can also help you not get taken down by the K9.

Immersed in culture

James took a class school trip to Toronto yesterday. They encouraged them to become "immersed" in the culture. I wondered what the culture was. They were going to the Eaton center. So a culture of commercialism? At any rate they had to go into stores and look and see how they were laid out and compare them to Kingston ones to see the difference in culture. The problem with this is that James rarely goes to stores in Kingston. And so he didn't notice much difference. He took pictures though, so I'll have to see how different they are. Is the culture really that different a few hours away?

Then they went on to Kensington Market and Chinatown. His main stories of the day revolved around people on drugs who came up to them. So I guess there was that for culture.

Denial

On Sunday we had a good service. I picked up steaks afterwards from No Frills (they were good!). Made dinner and then was out the door again for CR.

The first step that we were working on is denial. Because you can't work on problems if you deny that they exist. I like to think I'm pretty aware of my problems, I just don't always DO anything about it. Sometimes I kind of like my problems because they are familiar to me.

It is supposed to warm up again tomorrow. I was thinking of putting my summer dresses away but I guess I will wait another week.

launch #2

This week I had to push hard to launch the winter project module. I didn't take lunches this week and had to go in today but it did get launched and the students seem pretty happy about the projects.

Yesterday Clara was in from Calgary and we hung out for a few hours.

Tomorrow a lot of the day will be at Rustle. I don't have any plans for dinner tomorrow or Monday. I should figure that out soon!
