All seasons

When I woke up this morning all the ice had melted and it was like spring. James had planned to go with friends skating at the Wolfe Island rink. You need to take a ferry. He was up early in the morning to go on the ferry but I warned him that the rink would likely not be open as it is an outdoor rink and the weather was too warm. But I was not heeded and it was not long before he returned as the rink was indeed closed. But he and his friends decided to go to Invista instead. This year Kingston's new year's celebration will also be at the Invista starting at 5pm. Normally they do this downtown with fireworks but they have made a change this year to no fireworks and being out in the township. Maybe this will improve the parking situation. Recently it snowed and so it is winter again.

The ice

From a few months ago- honey sesame chicken tenders

 Spicy Korean beef tacos

From today- the front bush weighed down by ice
 Ice on trees
I walked to Rustle with my useful boot cleats. I saw a giant branch of tree fall at the Memorial Center. The crack attracted my attention so I saw it crash down. Luckily, no power lines or people in the vicinity. We had 3 meetings. After the meetings things had started to melt so there was a lot of things falling from the sky. The sidewalk was still slippery. I ordered new dryer balls that the amazon delivery person hid behind the recycling bin. Very creative.

changing conditions

I woke up at 7 and everything outside looked like ice- the road, the trees, the grass, the laundry line but it looked like rain was coming down. An hour later everything still looks like ice but a bit less so. Clearly still rain coming down. As the temperature rises a bit more, things should change more drastically.

Icing

I made a giant pot of yummy chilli (James had chicken fingers and fries) When I took the green bin remnants out there was definitely ice over the green bin but not so much that I couldn't open it. The trees were making the iced crackle of being iced over. Our power continues to hold.

The Wait

We are under a freezing rain warning. I did some shopping before the precipitation started. While the city brined the roads and salt trucks rushed around. Now that the precipitate has arrived it has so far been rain. I am not sure if that negates the efforts of the crews in making the surfaces ice - ready.

I am also making another chilli as I had a lot of kidney beans left over from the one I made for my parents. I am cooking them now and then will add the rest of the ingredients.

Tomorrow I have a few meetings at Rustle assuming that the roads are passable to walk.

late night projects

I had a Ta who didn't leave comments on their projects so I needed to go through them- that took until 2am last night. But I slept in to 10am, which is rare for me.

Yesterday I went with James to get a winter coat in a boxing day sale. We made the purchase in under 5 minutes. There weren't many "cold" rated jackets left. Only one colour and style that James liked. But there were no "M" left. However, he tried on "L" and it fit ok, so we took that one. It is blue and quite nice. $250 original price, we got it for $100.

I need to go into work tomorrow to post more marks.

Boxing day

Last night was better for the coughing. I didn't take cough syrup or Vicks but I did use 2 pillows and I slept soundly through the night, so things seem to be improving.

Today I hope to take James to Marks Work Wearhouse to look for a winter coat. I am only choosing that one as it is in walking distance as I am not keen on driving on this day. If there is nothing he likes, we will try Sport Chek another day.

Christmas Day

We celebrated Christmas yesterday with my parents yesterday so today was low key. The night was difficult for me as the cold seems to have loosened and so I coughed a lot. We slept in. I posted a bunch of grades, ready for the students (but they can't see them yet). Then I took a nap in the afternoon. Weirdly not coughing. How come I come when I lie down at night but not during the day? Who knows.

We had CR at Rustle at 6pm. NA was holding a special Christmas day where they went 9-6. We were doing a special movie night. I can't remember the name of the movie but it was very good. We had lasagna and treats after. There were some people with no family so it was especially nice for them to have this evening.

air filter

When the furnace cleaning person was cleaning the furnace he said that we needed a new air filter. He said that he could do it but it would be cheaper if I purchased the filters on amazon. So today I did and we'll see how that goes.

I coughed a lot last night so didn't get much sleep. I went to Shoppers in the morning and got some new cough medicine so I'll try that tonight. I'm not coughing as much during the day. Working on cleaning the upstairs today.

I have to get some presents wrapped for Rustle tomorrow as well.

Coach

James has been helping with younger boys hockey. I call them the "minis". Today the minis had a game at 7pm. James went to the rink around 3pm to clean up the locker area as his hockey team had a meal there and he had rented it for his minis as James' team doesn't have any more hockey until January. He's a pretty dedicated coach!

Due to his absence this allowed me to clean the basement :)

One potential reason for the increased volume at Loblaws was that it government cheque day as well as many other companies may have their cheques out today (not Queen's)

The other odd thing from the Loblaws trip is that there appeared to be feces on the floor. There was a "cleanup in the meat department" call. But I was unsure as to how it got there. A child? It was a bit strange.

The temperature is due to rise tomorrow, which is nice but hoping it dries up enough so that there is not too much ice when it freezes again.

Christmas sickness

I am currently battling a cold for Christmas.
This morning I took care of some dishes and laundry and then went to Loblaws around lunchtime. I thought this would be a better time than the end of the day when people are off work. But I was wrong. Loblaws was very busy. They had a "holiday market" going which they assumed that people knew about (and maybe the other people there did) but I did not. I still do not know what was going on. Inside there were people with stalls giving away what I assume would be holiday food. Outside they had some nice Christmas trees and some generators running (not sure for what) and some stalls that you had to line up for (again not sure for what). I saw them setting up when I was walking in and I thought maybe Santa was going to be there outdoors and the generator was to keep him warm. But the generator seemed to be for the stalls that I did not understand. I was carrying groceries so there was only so much that I could discern.
I think I will have a tea now.

ice slush

When I got home from Rustle, the plow had pushed a pile of slush at the end of the driveway. While it was still sunny-ish I shoveled the heavy slush before it froze. Everything is frozen now. The wind was very strong when walking!

rain snow

Yesterday it rained until it snowed. Today I went out to shovel and it was very heavy snow. At least I know what footware to wear today as the temperature likely will be dropping.

exam rolling

This morning I was at Rustle as Cogeco was there to fix the phone. There were some broken wires.

After that  I went back home and did some cleaning. Then I went to work for a long day of exam things. All went well. Tomorrow we will be doing the scanning so the marking can begin.

Rustle is having a local artisan sale tomorrow 10-3.

first turkey dinner

Today I had interviews and then we had our work Christmas dinner. I had turkey. It was a lunch portion so was pretty small portion but very tasty. They let everyone go home after lunch but I had too much to do to leave. Tomorrow is our exam and then will start the wrap up of term.
Yesterday out the window I could see as the flurries would blow in. The 401 is quite dangerous in these flurries and there was a fatality. The fatality was a man who had just had his house burn down a few weeks before and so the recovery for that family begins again. Very sad.

Tuesday, December 10, 2019

start of festivities

We had a holiday lunch today. We'll have one tomorrow as well and on Thursday. Makes up for no lunch tomorrow I suppose.
I am working on getting TA contracts out now but I am 2 weeks behind where I was last year which is no good for anyone.
Kim's mom is in the hospital right now as she had a small episode. She has had small mini strokes before (TIAs) so that is what Kim thinks happened. Her mom is not happy about being in the hospital so she seems to be back to her feisty self.

variables

Today was a pretty productive day considering I was wearing a few different hats. There were exam issues, course issues, hiring things to sort out for the next term. I didn't take a lunch today. I had a surprising meeting with HR as I sent in with no idea that there was a problem but someone who knew nothing about what I do had made a problem. After getting most things done I went to Rustle for a Monday workshop (from our Moved Monday series) on healthy relationships. Chelsea led this session and people were moved because they had never experienced healthy relationships.

While I see a lot of fire trucks as the fire station is close to Queen's today I saw 2 instances of police vehicles with lights and sirens but not in traditional police cars. One in the morning a large  black suv heading out brock St. One after the rustle with 2 dark coloured cars heading out Stephen to Montreal

Bell drama

Since the home phone line had not been working for a few months and we don't really need a home phone with the alternate cell phone, I had called Bell to get a new package. So I removed home phone but still have internet and TV. However the internet and TV somehow go through the phone line. And after the phone line was cut, so was the TV. So I called Bell to try to sort out the TV issue. I had to talk to a LOT of the technical support team in order to get it fixed. It was a 90 minute phone call. They kept having to "escalate" me but eventually they got it fixed.

I ordered a package from amazon and they said it would arrive on Monday. On Friday, I got an email that it had shipped and would arrive on Sunday. I was surprised as I did not realize that they delivered on Sunday. It arrived today.

Tomorrow at Rustle we are having a brunch between the services. During the upcoming week, there are many Christmas events to attend so it will be a busy week.

Remembrance

Today was the 30th anniversary of the Ecole Polytechnique massacare and we had a service of remembrance. I got to represent Maryse Laganière:

early morning black friday and saturday

On Friday I woke up at 5am not because I wanted to go shopping but just because my body decided to wake up then. A busy day at work with no lunch. James had a PA day but spent the day in bed fighting a cold. So he slept quite a bit during the day, which made it difficult for him to sleep at night. So he was up at 2am and that woke me up. So an even earlier morning as I didn't get back to sleep!

street cleaners

Last night the street cleaners were out and about on the streets which kept me awake but the streets are nice and clean. Going to bed early tonight!

plane crash

Last night about 5:20 a small plane crashed on the outskirts of Kingston. At that time I was walking from Metro to Food Basics as Metro was very busy and did not have what I was looking for. While the roads around food basics were busy, the store itself was not. The wind that they had been warning about (they note that in the news posts) certainly had not picked up in the 5-6pm range. After 7:30pm when I was walking home from CR I could feel the wind but it was not the crazy windstorm wind from a number of weeks ago where there were power outages and things fallen to the ground. I did put the recycling boxes in the garage just in case though.

locksmith

There have always been issues with the front door (because it is too large for the frame) but the side door started having a problem where you had to wrench the handle to get the door to open. After this had been going on for weeks. Maybe a few months even. I called a locksmith and he took it apart and found that the latch was broken so he replaced it and all is good again. A $15 latch. $100 visit. 1 fully functional door- no annoyance= priceless!

Greenery

I woke up this morning and the backyard transformed into something green which was nice to see. I hadn't seen green since I came back from St. Catharines. I had the day off because I worked last weekend so I decided to tackle all the leaves that came down in the storm before I left for St. C. There was a lot, not from any of my trees. I hauled them all to the back of the garden and created a giant pile. The neighbour lady thought I should put them in bags so she gave me one bag. But my leaves were not going to be contained in one bag. She also told me that I can't put yard waste in the green bin "They won't pick it up" but they do always pick it up if you put other waste on top. The city website says :

NOTE: Collectors must see food waste in the green bin in order to pick it up. You may include some yard waste as long as food waste is visible.

Fire in the park

When I was walking home yesterday there was a large fire in one of the BBQ places in the park. Generally when the BBQs are going they aren't as large as the fire last night. Though it was large, it wasn't out of control so it was safe in that way. However, there wasn't anyone in sight but there was a tent right by the fire so there may have been someone in the tent. The danger is that the tent was so close to the fire that it could have caught on fire. So I was trying to sort out if I should call the emergency number or the non emergency number (because it wasn't an emergency yet). But while I was thinking that through I heard the sound of the sirens.

Projects

Spent most of the weekend working on project marks.

Enjoyed Rustle today- the difference between the 9am and 11am was very pronounced- many students in the 9am and many community in 11am. Very different and yet still the same. We had a good time. Tomorrow Bob is running a series on "Winning the money wars", on Tuesday I have a scheduling meeting, on Wednesday I have CR, on Thursday I am running a test. The highlights of the week!

Friday, November 15, 2019

G1

Someone passed the written test and now officially could drive. Needs driver training and insurance first!

Has been a busy week after returning from a break in St. Catharines. Have to get the project marks out this weekend.

Storm aftermath

After the storm there was a gap in the foliage at the bottom of the garden. I thought it was just that the leaves had fallen but today I went to the end of the garden as I was wondering about the laundry line being twisted. When I got closer, there seemed to be a branch resting on the laundry line. But as I tried to move it off I realized that it wasn't just a branch, it seemed to be a dead tree that was just a large branch as it was still attached to the ground. I wasn't able to cut the branch with my clippers but I did manage to get the branch/tree under the laundry line in the hopes that gravity will pull it down to the ground. We'll see how it is doing tomorrow. There were some other large branches there as well and so that cleared up most on the question about the gap in the foliage- it wasn't missing leaves, it was missing branches.

There were also many downed traffic lights as I walked about today (the garbage ones lying broken on the ground- hydro had replaced them already)

4am

Yesterday many people were awake early at 3-4am because of the high winds. Today I woke up at 4am again but for no real reason.

Yesterday, I got our writing marks out but my email is still very behind.

Today my plan is cleaning the house and getting groceries. Not exciting but necessary.

Friday, November 1, 2019

Everybody knows it's windy

The wind picked up about 4am here and was very loud so I have been awake for a while. At 6am I remembered that I had not secured the recycling bins so I went out thinking I would need to search the neighbourhood but they had managed to lodge on the lawn so that was ok. They are inside right now.
There is now a "leaf bank" outside the house. There have been a large volume of leaves that have blown off the trees and collected into large banks by the side of the house. Winds are still at their peak for a few hours. There are apparently a number of trees and power lines down that is affecting the bus routes so far. We will see the affect as the city wakes up.

flooding

My email is still out of control but I am trying to chip away at it while still trying to do my work!

Walking home it was dark and rainy. For the most part the walk was ok just a bit wet but when I turned on to Victoria St. it looked like there was a car across the sidewalk. I thought it was just backing out of a driveway but it was so slow I thought I would cross the road. I did cross and then as I got closer I saw the puddle was all across the road and across the sidewalk so I thought I would walk on the lawn but the person ahead of me I saw that the was up to their knees. So I turned around and picked another street.

That street probably swallowed up kiddies trick or treating as there were no people on our street.

Hip hop

I did get to see Deirdre over homecoming and we caught up a bit and joked about how we ended up in similar problem solving jobs.

Homecoming went relatively ok. Not for the red bull van though.

Sunday was a hip hop for me. I went to the early service on Sunday, then to work, then back to Rustle for Faye's memorial.
We had some long days this week due to track testing.
Now Clara is in town so I'll see her this morning.

Friday, October 18, 2019

Homecoming

Still up to my eyeballs in work. This weekend is Homecoming at Queen's. Deirdre is up with some friends so I got to see her for a few minutes while she checked in a Grant Hall. She and her friends are participating in the parade tomorrow but I may get to spend some time with her after. But we'll see as she probably has lots of people to see.

unstricken

On Sunday night, the news of the school being open came through. So that changes some plans.
Then on Tuesday night James had a late hockey game and didn't get home until about 2am.
Yesterday I worked 12 hours. On the way home there was a racoon sitting on a lawn eating garbage. He saw me but was not concerned enough to leave the garbage. He was quite large. So I pretended I didn't see him. And we were both happy to pass each other by.
I got home early enough today to be able to mow the lawn!

Strike

James texted me today as he was excited that he didn't have school on Monday due to a strike. He was quite happy about this.

Today the World gymnastics qualification began and with today's internet age I can keep up with what is going on.

This week things slipped from being relatively ok to spinning out of control as there were timetable conflicts (Thanks to Thanksgiving) and other conflicts that needed to be negotiated. I took it eary today but will be working tomorrow.

scampering squirrels

I am noting that squirrel activity is much increased in the area. Must be fall.

I was debating if I should wear mitts today. James was wearing shorts.

James is off the injury list- seems to be fine now.

While I am trying to put the project teams for next term together, I am too busy answering emails and dealing with issues from this term to make too much progress!

Tuesday, September 24, 2019

injury list

James got hit an injured his shoulder so he is on the injury list.

I have walked downtown and walked by the corner that the stabbing happened and it felt weird.

Things are still busy with work as I try to make the project groups for next term and manage everything from this term as well. Tabitha is doing a lot but there is always more to do!

Thursday, September 12, 2019

stabbing

Woke up this morning at 4am. We are starting week 2 and things are coming together. After the classes I went down to Food Basics. But this was no ordinary trip. As I was heading down all sorts of police cars went by me and then an ambulance in the other direction. Apparently there was a fight and a stabbing, which resulted in 2 deaths. The police tape had already gone up. They get that up very quickly. Apparently a police officer had to discharge a weapon so the SIU was called in. The police officer only shot for the leg of the offender though, not to kill.
Tomorrow aiming to launch projects!

a long day

Today is my hopefully last long day. However, made even longer because the wind woke me up before 4am. It is the time of year of very high email volume and a lot of training sessions. Tabitha has been a great help- today she will go to the classes instead of me. I have a training session in the evening so will need to stay late today but that is the end of the late training sessions. I am also working on the quizzes set to launch on Friday.

Friday, September 6, 2019

the stop

So after being out of the office all day yesterday I was in the office all day today. In the morning working on setting up the quiz for the week and then in the afternoon tackling the email. When I got home I took a nap.
It is raining here and tonight was supposed to be the night of the outdoor concert so I'm guessing that didn't work out too well.
I'll be going in to work tomorrow as I have to finish taking care of email and working on project approvals.

Thursday, September 5, 2019

on the run

On Wed it was a long day as we had our big welcome ceremony in the evening so I got home very late.
Today was the first day of class so I was in classes all day as APSC 100 was running and I was also in the calculus classes for our time management APP. I was running literally as we had forgotten some supplies.
Hopefully will sleep well tonight.

Happy Birthday to my Dad

On labour day no less

teams

Yesterday I went into work and worked on email and the presentation for Wednesday evening.
Today I worked on making the teams. I thought it would take 5 hours and it took 10.
I washed dishes and did laundry before going to Rustle so I was on the run all day.

Friday, August 30, 2019

blisters

Yesterday it was raining lightly as I walked into work. So I didn't want to wear my summer shoes as they don't do well with water. But it was too warm to wear nylons so I wore some other shoes and paid the price in blisters.

I had gone to sleep when all sorts of sirens descended around our area. This is not particularly unusual. After the sirens arrived I could hear (and can still hear) the fire alarm going off. If must be one of the apartment buildings. Shortly after they arrived I could hear a fire guy speaking over loudspeaker (though I couldn't hear what he was saying I imagine it was telling people to get out of the building) so I figured it was more serious than a usual call. Twitter is now telling me that it is an "extinguished oven fire" so hopefully they are now doing clean up and everyone can recover from all the excitement. Including me!

New routine

I was woken up by some shouting from the apartment block nearby. It is an ongoing thing but I can't tell which apartment specifically. You would think that the neighbouring apartments would complain.

But it was ok as it was around the time that I would wake up anyway. I went to the early service at Rustle and then stayed for the start of the 11am one so that I could count the deposit. It seemed to work out better for my morning so I am liking this change.

I have not made my work to-do list for tomorrow yet but I am taking Tuesday off as I expect I will need to work the weekend.

My Tuesday list includes:
A/C maintenance guy is coming
Food box is coming
Scheduling committee meeting (not scheduled yet)
Meeting with Irene (not scheduled yet)
Board meeting - 6:30pm

From a week ago- glazed meatballs

 Pork lettuce wraps
I think I was supposed to actually wrap the lettuce around, but the lettuce wasn't in good enough shape to do that. Was still yummy.

Writing from when I was 9:

 This past week.
Spicy carnita pork tacos

These were good but I accidentally touched my face while cutting the poblano pepper and it burned a bit. Lesson learned.

Tuckey paillard and white wine sauce

1 week

The students arrive in one week. Still lots to do!

Today was overcast so my laundry is taking a long time to dry. I went to Shoppers and Loblaws to pick up supplies.

Now that the sun is starting to peek out, I will try to clean the windows and have another load of laundry to go out.

Thursday, August 22, 2019

interviews

We are working on interviews for hiring for September. That will take up much of tomorrow as well. The course website needs to be updated. There are lots of emails to be answered. I also need to go through our survey results to see which students have not yet completed it and may not be attending. Also, have a long list of things to do on my list!

Wednesday, August 21, 2019

long day

I woke up today at 4am because my computer decided it didn't shut down properly and it needed to be re-shut down. Then it decided it needed a new PIN. At 4am. Seriously.

But then I couldn't get back to sleep so I got up and tried to hurry in to work due to the impending storm. I almost made it, just in the work parking lot when the heavens opened. But I still got soaked as it came down very hard.

Then I didn't want to go to lunch until Tabitha got back as it was her defence day and she is now Dr. Tabitha. But then I got caught up in other things and didn't take lunch and then was going to leave for CR early and pick up a bite to eat but then things got busy again. So it wasn't a good food day. I will try to do better tomorrow.

1 Church, 2 services

Today we added a 9am service so we have 2 identical services- one at 9am and one at 11am. I was the host so I was there just after 8am. It was a lot of fun. Easier because it was the first one, so groundbreaking. It could become tiring to do every week, we'll see how it goes.

It was overcast in the morning but sunny in the afternoon so I got a load of laundry hung out.

Then in the evening we did some CR leadership training. We had some yummy taco soup to start and then looked at improving processes and doing some other training. So a busy but good day.

Tomorrow, we are running some workshops on our first Assignment.

Saturday, August 17, 2019

countdown

The days until the start of term are passing quickly. We still have a lot to do to finish the courses and projects.
Today I woke up at 5am so I got to work on cleaning. I cleaned the bathroom and got some laundry out. I had to pull the laundry back in around 11 when the rain came in. But I got another load out around 3pm. I also cleaned underneath my bed which was very dusty. My black leggings were grey by the end of the cleaning. So that was some good work.

Foley mountain

We took a Rustle road trip to Foley mountain. Is it really a mountain in the technical sense? I am not sure. But it was very beautiful and everyone had a good time or at least a relatively good time.

Tabitha started work and so we have been moving ahead on course things at a greater pace. Only a few weeks left to go.

Tuesday, August 6, 2019

in between downpours

When I came out of food basics at lunchtime, the sky was suddenly very overcast so I hurried back to work and made it just before the downpour. Same thing when travelling home, I just got some sprinkles, so that worked out.

Tomorrow Tabitha is going to be starting though it is my day off, she will just have an orientation day and we will get down to business on Thursday. Just a few weeks left until launch.

Looking forward to a family reunion on the weekend!

coon crossing

I was walking to Loblaws at about 7:30pm and ahead of me on Park St. a very large racoon crossed the road ahead of me and went into some bushes. As I passed by I looked into the bushes and a saw a racoon face looking back at me. I stopped for a minute to look and heard something across the road. There was another racoon but slightly smaller. He was a bit hesitant to cross the road so turned around. I started to walk on, but I could hear them talking to each other. Finally, the large one must have said :RUN as the second one sprinted (well as much as a round object can sprint) across the road and made it without being hit by anything. Racoons in our area are very well fed.

Roxy

On Thursday I was woken up early as there was an ambulance going by on Princess St. The siren didn't quite wake me up, but when he had to do a lot of honking to get people out of the way, that woke me up.

On Friday I was woken up by the sound of running and shouting- I think someone's dog had got away from them.

This morning, though, I just woke up naturally!

Yesterday I learned that Roxy passed away. I worked with her a number of years ago. She was such a nice wise lady. She lived in England now so I did not see her anymore.

It was also Alan's last day of work in our office and that was also sad. I will miss his support. Next week Tabitha will start though, so that will be good!

no mow

I haven't mowed the back lawn for a while as the grass has mostly stopped growing and it allows for happy birds. The robins were there chasing moths or something, happily. They also like my green bin because of the maggots!

amber alert

A few days ago there was an Amber alert at 4am. Depending on the phone you have these are designed to send an emergency alert to all phones. My phone never gets the emergency alerts. However, apparently James' does as he said that it woke him up. Then he had a hard time getting back to sleep because the sound of the ringing was still echoing in his ears. He had to listen to a podcast to get it to go away. The system seems brilliant though because now the whole country would be awake, thousands of eyes and ears.

Yesterday I went in to work and mostly finished getting probation students in their courses.
I still have transfer students to work on and then all the emails in my inbox.

Tomorrow I have to launch some websites so not much course adding. Nice that it is something different.

Thursday, July 25, 2019

pause

Today our computer system at work needed a pause day to run reports so I traded some time for Saturday.
Today was a beautiful day for most of the day. Irene and I went to Lake Ontario Park and did some work for CR.
A thunderstorm rolled through around 4pm but did not last long. I had pulled the laundry in before.
I made Vegetable Lo Mein for dinner. It was very good.
Tomorrow we are doing some filming at work. Time to be a movie star again. lol.

Montreal

We made  a flying visit to Montreal for a birthday party. It was at Concordia, which has a beautiful campus. All James wanted to see was the hockey arena though. As Concordia seems to leave most of their doors open on a Saturday we got in to see the deserted arena.

The motel was close to the water in a very ritzy neightbourhood, with many signs by the water marking things as "private"

Fine

All day of meetings, though I took lunch scooting downtown to the post office and Food basics walking very briskly and made good time, making it back for our enrollment summit.
Then went straight to Rustle for Celebrate Recovery.
Also, had some finance things to look into for Rustle.
Tomorrow I have one meeting to sort out TA roles for September but then have the rest of the day to deal with all the things in my email.

sleep

Today was my day off so I could sleep in- I slept until 10am! It means that I am not tired now though and I need to sleep to get up early tomorrow.
When I woke up the Chef's plate had already arrived.
I got some things done around the house.
Made steak in the instant pot as well as the turkey enchiladas from the box.
Tomorrow is a long day- I have meetings in the morning, then an enrolment summit in the afternoon, then celebrate recovery in the evening. Hopefully, I will be able to sleep soon!

bitten

The risk of being out in the evening means that the hordes of bitey things look at you like their meal. So my legs are covered with bites.

On Wednesday we had an open session of Celebrate Recovery

On Thursday I went to Al and Shari's to pray through their house.

On Fri-Sun there has been a "Kingdom Powwow" at Stony Plain Alberta that I have been watching the livestream of.

Sinus

Yesterday was stressful at work as there were a lot of things to try to fix from the upper year block load (not really my department but became my department as I can fix things)
I had a bit of a headache but attributed it to the stress.
We had a worship night at Rustle, then I watched the Bach-ette.
In the morning today I woke up with weird sinus juice pouring out of my nose. So maybe the headache yesterday was sinus, though the headache went away after dinner and was not present in the morning. Just weird gunk in my nose.
Today I had a day off because I worked on the weekend.
James was happy to have me home.
I mowed the lawn and got a lot of ironing done.
Made Chicken cacciatore from Chef's plate tonight. James got plain chicken.

Pineapple

I was guessing it was about 10 years since I had the big problem with pineapple making me sick, so I decided to try it again in a fruit salad. It was not a large number of pieces but I did feel ill for a few hours. Then it passed. But that ends my attempt at pineapple again.

Yesterday was summer orientation so I was kept busy running the whole day!

Brock St.

On Monday I spent all day getting the schedules out for the new students in September. We are also working on wrapping up the grades to start student assessment. Also, tomorrow summer orientation begins so we are getting ready for that.
We had our "practice" session of CR before we go "open" last night and pretty much everything that could go wrong, went wrong. Good that it was a practice!
Tonight we have a board meeting.
One morning this past week there was a fight/assault early in the morning on Brock St, close to the route that I walk in on. I guess they had not found the person who left the scene (1 person was unconscious) so as I walked in I was passed by 6 Police. Clearly they were still looking!
