the last parcel jumped to the front of the line

So the 4th part of the order that had not even sent last night arrived today but the other 2 parcels seem to be stuck in Mississauga/Halton Hills.

When the most exciting part of your day is tracking amazon packages.

not much progress

My packages appear to be stagnant.

I did a lot of Rustle finances today. Went to 2 shoppers. Both were moderately busy but no line up at self check out so I was only in for a few minutes. Tomorrow I hope to tackle Food basics as we are low on juice again.

No new cases in Kingston for 2 days. Fairly impressive since most of the students are back now.

following the tracking

So the amazon ord.er that I put in was split into 4 pieces as I guess they were coming from different areas. The agitator from Pennsylvania is still stuck probably in the Canada Post lot in Mississauga as they struggle with their covid outbreak. The other packages are not travelling though Mississauga so seem to have more daily progress. Interestingly 2 of them arrived at the Halton Hills location yesterday but only 1 made it out. Weirdly it was the one that arrived at 8pm, left Halton Hills at 2am and made it to our Glenbunie outlet (where all intellicom ships from) at 6am. So that should make it here today.

The other one that made it to Halton Hills at 3pm remains there for the day and isn't due to arrive until Tuesday. Just hanging out in Halton Hills I guess.

fin broke off

The ripped fin broke off the agitator today. The new agitator is still somewhere between new jersey and Mississauga.

Had a good training session tonight.

The Rustle bookkeeper dropped off things to be signed today so I'll need to head to see Sarah this weekend if she is available.

time travel amazon style

While my agitator has not emerged from the black hole yet. Another package was shipped on the 29th and arrived in Calgary on the 28th. I guess this package came out the other side of the black hole.

Made Indian halloumi matar. I was supposed to "sear" the halloumi but I don't think I really managed that step. It still tasted good!

the black hole at canada post

So my agitator left New Jersey at about 2:30pm today. When I first placed the order amazon thought it would arrive on Saturday. When the order was processed it said Tues Feb 2. Now amazon has no idea when it will arrive. As soon as it left the New Jersey facility it encountered unknown difficulties and thus the vortex has begun. I suspect it has to do with the COVID outbreak at the Canada Post facility in Mississauga where it is headed. With the outbreak causing staffing difficulties. I think it may be delay in delivery due to internal factors. My washer is still functional I am just trying to avoid washing things that may catch on the fin.

For dinner we had beef biranyi. I cooked the veggies for longer than their listed time as we like them very soft. There was mango chutney for on top  and the crispy shallots were the highlight. We've had this one before and really like it.

snow

The snow rolled in the afternoon so we'll see if there is a snow day tomorrow. James has been studying biology this evening and will be studying biology tomorrow no matter what location he will be in.

James has a doctors appointment next week via phone for a knee injury he suffered while climbing a fence in December. It doesn't hurt, he just has a bump.

We ran a learning strategies session today on exam test taking. It was a bit of a lighter day but I didn't make much progress on things that need to be done, just dealt with things that came up.

Made chicken noodle salad with soba noodles which I had never tried before. There were lots of veggies as it was a "balanced" meal and did feel very healthy.

tracking the agitator

The agitator left its post in Pennsylvania today and arrived in New Jersey at 11:18am, which is apparently where it is spending the night.

Yesterday early I did go to metro and Shoppers both pretty quiet.

Up early this morning as back to school has begun.

The new variant was detected in Kingston adding more anxiety apparently.

agitator

One of the wings on my washer agitator tore last night and I was trying to figure out what to do. I found a new agitator on amazon, which I was pretty impressed with. Hopefully it fits my machine- it said it fits "most" so fingers crossed. The washer still works ok though. I needed to do a load of towels tonight and it worked fine.

I woke up this morning due to the a train horn. This is pretty rare as the tracks are far away. I am not sure what conditions occur that would cause it to be loud enough to hear.

James worked very hard in the basement. We put together his new bed frame and did lots of cleaning. Pretty soon the basement will look very different. It was a good start today.

pond hockey

Grey lockdown- stay at home order- Kingston low cases- encouragement to have activities outside- cold weather= pond hockey season has begun

James went to the middle of nowhere in Odessa happy to be on the ice again. It was cold, he affirms.

They began icing up the rink at Compton park today to there will soon be a rink nearby.

I tried to get some work done around the house and took a walk in the cold. Had a good Zoom meeting with the parents.

Had Bernie come by. The day felt nicer out with him here. Even though he was still cold.

I have found a new murder mystery series to watch - a British drama called "death in paradise"

Finalizing

This morning hopped to Giant Tiger. There were 2 greeters at the door today. It was not busy so I could pick up essentials bananas, tomatoes and bread.

We had a critical problem with one of the projects but I think we resolved it.

I got most of the websites launched which is good.

We had bacon from the frozen box today. It is very good bacon.

Israeli couscous

 Times of change.

In the states and in our region the students are going back to school.

I selected todays chef's plate because it had israeli couscous which is very very good.

I saw today our neighbour Chloe got a meal box from the same truck that brought ours yesterday and while backing out of our driveway almost crashed into their truck. The meal truck was very late today - about 4pm and still seemed filled with boxes of meals. Maybe they had to do a few runs today to get them all out.

Icy

The weather today seemed nice but dropped in the evening to make things icy.

I hopped to Loblaws first thing in the morning. While it was not busy when I entered the lobby area, there was a lady who seemed to be changing? The normal greeter was further away than usual and when I made it through the main doors the security dude was there on his phone. So I'm guessing they weren't really happy with her there. I picked up some essentials. When I was leaving, the changing lady was gone and the security dude was gone while the greeter remained alone. When I walked out, I saw the security dude walking back towards loblaws from Princess St. So I'm guessing she was escorted off the property?

We had a learning strategies session where I learned that sleep cycles are 90 minutes so she recommended sleeping in multiples of 90 minutes. I'll work on that!

giving up the count

It is getting a bit cumbersome to keep track of all the different lockdowns. The numbers in ontario do not seem to be improving despite the lockdown.

Kingston itself is doing well with no new cases.

I woke up early to go shopping and things were very quiet. I found a turkey breast that we had for dinner tonight and I picked up as much juice as I could so we're good for a number of days now.

Some people use masks outside but with so few people being out it is still very easy to keep 6 feet apart so I don't wear one. My nose was running more than usual this morning so it made the mask more difficukt inside- I don't think I could do it for a longer time. My nose sorted itself out by the afternoon. Unlikely covid. More likely a sinus issue.

corona lockdown day 306- second lockdown day 21- third lockdown day 2

Today was a bit of a quieter day as I was working with documents and getting prep work done. I did get out for a walk. There weren't many people out at all. We also had no new cases. So taking it pretty serious here it would seem.

Still had leftovers from the freekeh dish and brownies for dinner.

corona lockdown day 305- second lockdown day 20- third lockdown day 1

Today was a day of meetings so not much to report. I'm still behind where I need to be in week 1 but am catching up slowly.

A made mediterranean freekeh meal and had to drink a lot of water after. I didn't even add any salt to the dish. But it seemed very healthy otherwise.

corona lockdown day 304- second lockdown day 19

About to add a third lockdown to the title. Things are starting to get more under control at work. Not good, but better.

Tomorrow however is block booked with meetings so will be a long day. There is a lot to keep track of.

Now we are in a new lockdown and I am not sure how my life is different. Kingston is doing well for cases still hanging on.

Made a Thai beef bowl for dinner with brownies for dessert.

corona lockdown day 303- second lockdown day 18

Still working to sort things out for the Winter term. Working on enrollments and training.

A new lockdown is starting on Thursday but it won't make any change for me in general.

In specific I went to Sarah's to get her to sign a cheque and went to Rustle to pick up bills. In case these things are no longer allowed. There was not many people on the roads. All quiet in the town. We only had 2 new cases today so still weathering the storm well

corona lockdown day 300/301/302- second lockdown day 15/16/17

Start of term pains as I was buried under work. Tomorrow I start the path to hopefully somehow dig myself out but am not too hopeful. Neither are the covid numbers too hopeful. My Amazon package is in Calgary facing unexpected circumstances. As are we all.

corona lockdown day 299- second lockdown day 14

For a lockdown the numbers seem to have become worse. Kingston was ok at only 2 new cases today but other areas seem to be in bad shape.

Today was another long day. Running enrollments for our extended program backed up my email so I will need to tackle that tomorrow.

corona lockdown day 298- second lockdown day 13

Despite being 2 weeks into the second lockdown the numbers are not looking better. We were at 13 new cases today.

I went to Loblaws early today and relatively to the other places I had been in lockdown #2 it was busier, but still not too bad.

I had a lot of meetings and marks to get out. Tomorrow I need to block load some courses and organize some offers. Send emails to make sure everything is set up for next week.

Had the Japanese chicken salad today from chefs plate and quite enjoyed it.

corona lockdown day 297- second lockdown day 12

While the numbers are not looking good Aleesha (public health friend) says that they are not exponential so the lockdown is working.

I went to Metro first thing in the morning and it was very quiet. There were more staff there than customers. They had meat and juice so it was a success.

It was a long day of trying to get things set up for next week. I also had a board meeting.

Chef plate was smoky turkey mac and cheese and it was very wonderful!

corona lockdown day 296- second lockdown day 11

Despite the lockdown the numbers are not looking any better.

High school is going better than the last lockdown. I think the octomester system and the amount of preparation was helpful in this lockdown. The teacher only had to prepare for 1 class instead of 4. James has classes at 10am when he gets things to do and then spends the rest of the day working on the activities.

I worked very late last night so took the morning off but have a lot to do tonight.

COVID-19 Activity in KFL&A Update for January 5, 2021

corona lockdown day 295- second lockdown day 10

Today was the first day back after the break so it was a super busy one. I was busy from sunup to sundown and past that. Lots of crises to resolve. Interviews and a presentation. I was very sore today as I carried too many groceries yesterday!

corona lockdown day 294- second lockdown day 9

So the numbers in the second lockdown don't seem to be improving much, likely as people were still traveling for the holiday. We'll see if things improve after another week.

I trekked to food basics and shoppers today to stock up and was glad for amazon that I did not need to get more as I could not have carried more.

We had Rustle online. I made sausages for an early dinner and now am making steak for James' later dinner. Teenagers eat a lot.

corona lockdown day 293- second lockdown day 8

Due to lots of snow I didn't venture far- just outside to shovel a bit. It was heavy snow so I didn't get the whole driveway done, just a path from the door to the sidewalk in case any parcels will show up.

Today I was working on course syllabi and setting up the course website.

corona lockdown day 292- second lockdown day 7

While we are on lockdown the numbers went up again today. I guess still more holiday socializing.

I took a walk down to the water.

Still lots of work.

Butter chickpea curry!
