Bunny forgave me

Today was such a beautiful day I sat on the back porch after Rustle for most of the afternoon. Bunny came and hung out later in the day. After Rustle there was this parade up Patrick St. I don't know what it was for but they played pretty fantastic music!

Bunnies don't like water

John explained to me that bunnies hate water, which explains why baby bunny was so upset with me watering in the garden. I hope he forgives me. He wouldn't come out and see me after I did that. Well see if he's feeling better about me this evening. John also told me that he saw a fox in my area. Or something he thought might have been a fox. The interesting thing is that the danger that is nearby for the bunny in the dogs on everyside of the yard is probably his best protection as the fox is not going to mess with the dogs. Just stay in my backyard forever baby bunny! I just saw a plane from the Trenton airshow fly over (a grey bomber type). On Friday, the snowbirds were doing a flyover in preparation for the airshow. I ran down to my students room to let them know. I told them to come quick because the snowbirds were outside. Rory said "Some old people?" lol.

Bunny legs

This morning baby bunny was trying out his bunny legs and racing up and down the garden for no real purpose. He is a well exercised bunny this morning.

There are a few things that freak him out and cause him to run back to his nest. Flowers falling from the flowering quince. Wind blowing. Me watering the garden. He doesn't mind if I walk the garden and mostly he is pretty calm but he does freak out sometimes. He had a good feeding of the flowering clover and I expect him to rest for most of the day. It is expected to be a hot one today. But maybe not as hot as this:

Ready

While I was ready for a nap in my previous post, I did not actually take a nap. Now I am ready to sleep and actually plan on it. I finished up the laundry and cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming and ironing. I did not get to the bathrooms- always the hardest to motivate myself to clean those.

Hung out with baby bunny a bit tonight as well. He is still super cute.

Red sauce

This morning, I hung out with baby bunny a bit. Did 3 loads of laundry and washed dishes. Ready for a nap now!

Earlier this week, I made red spiced pork:

Graduation

James had his graduation from grade 8 ceremony today. Then went on a cruise.

This little guy is the reason that I am not mowing the lawn anymore
He loves the clover.

I was telling the summer students that I work with about the baby bunny and musing on how when he was first stepping out in the garden he was pretty terrified of me, but now he is pretty "meh" with me and doesn't really care that I am there. And Rory said "well, he's known you half his life". Indeed.

Clover

The baby bunny is getting braver. This morning he was hanging out on the east side of the bushes, eating the white clover flowers. He would pop back under the bush when he saw me. After work he was hanging out on the west side of the bushes to mix things up. He is always only a few hops from the bush. Pretty much everything freaks him out. He is scared of squirrels, birds and even himself! Very, very cute though.

James has been experimenting with a new hair do for his graduation. Also cute!

Baby bunny

I was out in the backyard around 9:30am (today was a vacation day) and out of the bushes pops baby bunny, except he is twice as big as last week! As soon as he spotted me he rushed back to the bushes though. He seems very inquisitive.

I didn't make as much progress on the house as I had hoped but the laundry and kitchen are ok.

I went to Food Basics to stock up on some things. It was a beautiful day for walking and hard to stay inside.

I made Southwest Beef Lasagna for dinner:

 Yellow zucchini!
Chopped veg:
Beef with tomato paste and seasonings:
 Cooking veg:
 With beans:
 Mixed all together:
Whole wheat tortilla to make layers:

 Cooked in the oven:

Storm

There were all kinds of warnings as the storm blew in, but it was not the worst storm that I have seen.

I hope the baby bunny didn't get too wet- his first storm! I found lots of bunny droppings this morning so there was definitely an adult bunny in the backyard last night.

Didn't get to see the strawberry moon because of the storm.

Carrots

Last night I left carrots out for bunnies and this morning they were gone. I keep being surprised at how nocturnal my bunnies seem to be. Tomorrow at work I have a big timetabling report to get done for a meeting on Wednesday. I also have a project meeting in the morning and a workshop in the afternoon, so it will be a busy day.

Meals from last week:

The Farro meal was ok and it did a good job with the kale. It was very easy to make but not very interesting. I wouldn't make it again, but it wasn't bad.

The turkey taco bowl was indeed very yummy and I would make it again.

I got to make the taco chips myself using tortillas and olive oil. Very pleased with this trick and they were just perfect!

The dip in the center is cottage cheese with lime juice and turkey taco spice seasoning with some grated lime rind on top. The peppers are cubanelle peppers and were fried with a bit of onion. The turkey was also fried up in seasoning but the tomatoes, corn and cheese were all just added straight out of the bag.
