Yoda Tofu Doom

Remembered to take a pic:
 Montreal spiced pork tenderloin
Radish salad minus the radishes (romaine and sunflower seeds)
 Sweet potatoe fries
 with fresh parsley
 With the yummy tenderloin
Work has been busy with interviews, timetabling, and other first week back issues

Migrating morning

This morning has had heaps of geese migrating overhead in the grey skies. The rain has not begun yet but is due shortly. I have already done my shopping. On tap for today are lots of things to do around the house, will have essays to load onto our course website. James has a game at 9pm.

Last night was Chicken Parmesan :

Cooking the sauce (the green is curly kale)
I seared the chicken (in breadcrumbs) earlier
 With 2 different cheese
 On top of bucatani pasta

acting

In the morning before work I spent some time in the garden and saw there were some piles of bunny poo. I hope that means the bunnies like the garden.

The funniest part of the day was when Bill (who is retired but still teaches for us- no spring chicken) acted out what he would be like it he were old. It was pretty funny.

Saw my financial advisor who said that they were worried when Trump took office that it would destabilize the markets but said that the markets seem to be doing fine.

James' team placed 4th and just squeaked into the playoffs by one point. They are playing the 1st place team. I thought they would be out pretty quickly but they are holding their own, so far. He just got back- 1am and still needs to be up for school tomorrow- and me for work!

Roosting murder

Recently I have been observing the roosting behaviour of crows. They seem to move around to different trees to roost. It can be difficult to get a picture as the sun is going down during this activity.
This was my attempt through the rain.

This was a small example as often there are many more crows, but this was still early.

When I was walking today I saw some graffiti in large letters that said "YODA TOFU DOOM". So I guess there is a new gang in town that is made up of vegetative matter using the force? I had a good laugh- I am not sure of the maturity level of the writer?

Turkey stir fry dinner
 Mainly vegetables

with turkey. The sauce was made of some interesting bottles of things that I had not heard of before.

It was very good!

Go west

Normally wherever I go is east of the house as most things are located that way- shopping, work, Rustle, all east.
As everything was closed today for the holiday I went west. I tried to go to Grenville Park but couldn't find the entrance. I saw bits of the city that I hadn't seen before.

I have some work to do in the afternoon and will do some kijiji posting but I need to do some cleaning first.

Bunny and robin

When I woke up there was an adult bunny in the back yard. He/she hopped away. There was also a robin skittering along on the snow. Is this spring? the snow is receding.

Rustle was full, full, full today. I mean it was physically full, but it was also full of need. I was tired leaving.

Read this today:
https://www.thestar.com/news/insight/2017/02/19/this-queens-student-froze-to-death-on-a-kingston-pier-heres-how-he-came-back-to-life.html
So glad he is alive. He has a very sweet spirit.

Holiday Monday tomorrow and everything will be closed so I went to Food Basics today to make sure we had food!

Warm front

Today things have been warming and the ice from the ice storm and the snow melting. Squirrels woke me in the morning running around on the roof. Chickadees were flittering in the front as Kassie looked out. It feels like spring. No complaints here. I did some shopping at Loblaws and SDM. Lots of laundry and dishes. Tonight folding the tax receipts to hand out tomorrow.

Blackened chicken

We haven't got as much snow as Nova Scotia!

James claimed this meal was racism. Racism is a hot topic. When I ask him to do things he doesn't want to do he also claims racism, despite the fact that we are the same race.
 Basmati rice with cooked onion
 With the blackened chicken
With mango red pepper salsa- all very tasty!
Tonight was Pork Banh Mi Wraps
 Pickled carrots
 Lettuce leaves with rice noodles
Pork meatballs dipped in ssamjang and soy glaze sauce
With lettuce and the carrots- also a success!
Lots of meetings! Getting on top of things though (but not timetabling, that is behind)

The big Freezie

The snow had already started when I went to Rustle. Met some Kijiji people. Sold 2 desks in a funny twist that I didn't understand.  They came for a desk I had posted but the condition wasn't what she expected so she also wanted to look at the other desk we had and then went back and forth trying to decide. She told me she only needed one desk. And I was -no worries pick the one that you want. Finally, she couldn't decide so she decided to buy them both!

There was a crackerjack of a little girl at Rustle who started a conversation with me by asking "How is your day going?" which I thought was hilarious coming from such a young person. She then proceeded to tell me some things that her mom had told her and I could tell that it was verbatim because of the wording. Best conversation of the day.

Jared shared a message about planting seed and God giving the increase so he gave Crissy (Violet's mom) a bag of compost. She took it well. The illustration was that even things that are dead and yucky like compost can grow into beautiful things.
As Todd said at the end "You can be in as bad shape as those carrot tops and still turn a corner".

I came home a snow person. There was a lot more snow than this but this was mid-afternoon:

beef kofta

Made beef kofta last night. What was difficult to follow in the instructions was  that I had to make the meat mix into balls but then told me to cook 4 minutes on each side. How many sides does a ball have?

Have been working on trying to clean the house and am now wrestling with the financial software to run the tax receipts for Rustle.

Canneloni

It was a busier week than I anticipated. Lots of training and meetings. Got a lot done. My email is (relatively) under control.
On Tuesday

my camera was out of battery so I took the canneloni photos with my new phone. They aren't great as I am still learning to work it. It was yummy though!

IC-EE

Monday night I had a late training session so I went in late on Tues. The freezing rain started around 2pm but not very bad. I went to metro around 4 and there were still lots of people there and walking around. It started coming down harder in the evening and everything was pretty icy.
I stayed up late (midnight) making a marking guide. We didn't loose power, which was good.
At 4am the plows in the area woke me. When I went out to put out the garbage and recycling at 6am, the melt was in full force. It is supposed to get cold again tonight. I am tired but still have a lot to do.

dark

I woke up this morning and my old phone was dead so I didn't know what time it was. I had a number of dreams and it felt like I had slept enough but it was dark dark dark. I wondered if it was still early or if the sun just forgot to come up.
I drifted in and out of sleep and finally woke at 9am. Then I went to Loblaws and spent the rest of the day doing work around the house and a bit of work. Made pizza for dinner.

email

My email did not die down this week until today, it was a busy week. Gillian made me this award:
which cracked me up.
Another good chef's plate meal- paprika spiced chicken on spinach orzo:

 Spinach orzo
 with spicy paprika chicken
with tomatoes that cooked in the oven with the chicken
 with feta
Another great meal they came up with!
