Today was on AV for Rustle which is a slightly more stressful way to experience the service. The children were pretty loud apparently (I was in the AV booth so didn't notice so much) and the speaker wrapped up quicker than usual. Next weekend the speaker is Barry who I haven't seen since before the pandemic but am looking forward to it!

Made chorizo flatbread pizzas that were quick and easy and tasted good as well!

 I woke up around 4am and found if difficult to get back to sleep. But eventually did and slept later than I planned. I went to Food Basics later than usual but it wasn't as busy as I expected which was good.

I made some interesting puff pastry pizza from Chef's plate that was very filling!

 Thursday and Friday are heaps of Zoom interviews!

Today I went to Food Basics and picked up some staples. There is lots of construction around during the day and now there are people or a person yelling on the street. Not a quiet day!

 I was expecting rain all day and there was none and no laundry got dried either!

Now there is a front approaching that apparently dropped a tornado in marmora. Hopefully, it weakens as it travels.

I received a bunch of different leggings from fabletics in different materials to try them all out. I have determined that my favorite fabric is the pureluxe but there aren't as many interesting colours for that one.

Today I am trying out the "seamless" type which is supposed to be light compression but seems to be pretty strong compression but maybe will loosen over time.

4am wake up

 I don't know why!

Lots of emails today, working on interview requests for the Fall.

Went to the downtown Food Basics- they have 5 new self-checkouts which takes the place of 2 normal registers.

Make BBQ chicken with potato salad. A first Chefs plate that didn't have an explicit vegetable. It was good and filling enough!

Pom pom flowers recovered

 I have never seen the pom pom flowers recover but hardy they are and they have surprisingly regained their strength.

Last night the dinner was black bean rice. Tonight teriaki pork.

The night was very nice out, cooler than it should have been.

The day the pom pom flowers fell down

 So much rain took down the pom pom flowers. I feel like they have lasted longer than they normally do.

I walked in the rain to Rustle to deal with our lock situation and look into T-shirts. I am going to be emailed quotes for each.

James went to the dentist, had a lot of gas, got knocked out but is in less pain than the last time so that is improvement.

Make bacon for dinner.

We had an online event for incoming students. The in person ones were much more popular!

So many questions

 

This image gives me so many questions. It looks like the head and arms are photoshopped on. But beyond that I'm not sure why you would want to sit on a chair in a tent with your hear and arms popping out. And how would you write with your arms like that? Day 2 of orientation also went well.

Today Josiah and Kara-Lee made their first visit from Niagara Falls to Rustle to their former internship grounds!

Day 1 of summer orientation

 It was weirdly similar to prepandemic orientation. Connor did a great job designing the challenges and I think a good time was had by all. Tomorrow we have much higher numbers than today so that will give extra challenges.

Was up at 6am. Washed dishes before heading to work. So many problems to solve today, didn't get a lunch. Made chilli for dinner. Had to sort through a lot of recycling to put out.

Kim is expecting baby chickens tomorrow.

grey powersuit

 I dug up the summer dresses and found a grey dress with black edging that looked like a grey powersuit so I wore that today.

It was a productive day. We are trying to plan for the summer orientation and making pretty good progress.

Fabletics had an extra special sale today and so I got some more leggings telling myself I will try out different materials!

retirement

 

Yesterday I went to a retirement party for George. Rogers was down for the day. Hopefully things improve for both!

Today I went to Loblaws as they had a special on 6 boxes of tissues for $3.99. We go through a lot of tissues.

Was up early, though I beat the drill and the car alarm that would have woken me if I was not already awake!

Thoughts

 

Urban hike

 Had the day off today so I decided on an urban hike. I wore my new perforated leggings and they did very well.

I went to the Cat center first and picked up some shorts for James. I also picked up some shirts for him. As he is on the edge of M/L I should have bought L but he has M shorts so M was on my mind. Hopefully he will make do.

Then went to check out a place for Eline. It is pretty far out though so hopefully she is able to find something closer.

Then on my way home a firetruck was going in the opposite the direction and I didn't think much of it but after I walked a block I looked backwards and saw the smoke.

The thing I learned about urban hiking is that many main arteries do not have sidewalks. I found this very bizarre. I should sleep well tonight. Last night at 2am there were some awful animal noises. My bunny is still alive today though.

Why are there fireworks tonight?

 The holiday was yesterday and good weather. Was tonight the night for half price fireworks?

I did grocery shopping and general cleaning today so not much exciting to report.

Was it labour day?

 Seemed more like labour day than Canada Day due to the amount of work done today.

The birds were on the metal overhand at about 5:30am and I got up at 6am. I got distracted by the new Fabletics offerings for a bit while I had some breakfast and then left for Lake Ontario park at 6:30am. It was a good bike ride down and relatively quiet in the morning, dog walkers and joggers mainly.

Got back to hang laundry and do dishes and vacuum and made some hamburgers for lunch then James decided he wanted to clean the basement. So we spent hours and hours doing that. We were pretty dusty by the end. Watched a Midsomer murder and just need to get the laundry running for tomorrow and then will try to get some sleep!
