cleats up

I walked to Rustle today and realized that I no longer needed the ice cleats that I had been using for the week.

I sorted out our faculty advisors for the projects which took a few hours and I did some more team reviews. I am though 30 teams now. I need to improve the rate of review of 15/day to get through them all before our review meeting.

I wrote this version of Habukkuk 3:17-18 with a covid twist

Though we may not be able to meet in person

Or dine with one another

Though people can't go to work

And the earth is unusually quiet

Though people may dispute over masks and vaccines

And anger and fear overflow

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord

I will joy in the God of my salvation

Not your normal boxing day

Boxing day downtown was a bit of a ghost town. There were security guards but not many people to police.

It was very icy in the morning when I went to food basics but had improved a bit when I went downtown in the afternoon.

Today was a bit melty and my parents and I went to Owen's Point. Very baeutiful.

Tomorrow I have to review all the teams from the past term (made it through 15 today about 175 left to go) Also to assign all the roles for the next term so that the contracts can be ready for Jan 3 if possible.

Christmas!

Under a freezing rain warning (I had to clean of the car as I was the only one with ice picks on my boots) we drove to Brighton and had a great afternoon with my parents. James got a cool light to accent his music

A wonderful Turkey dinner.

We got home just before the roads were very bad- much of it glare ice.

We'll see how the roads look in the morning.

Sausage try #3

Made sausages again this morning and it was deemed a success.

Had tacos with brownies as the Christmas eve meal.

Went to Rustle for the Christmas eve service.

Finished up most things for the course website. Hoping that weather is ok for Christmas tomorrow to visit my parents.

Sausage try #2

Yesterday I tried the "boil and burn" method for the sausages which boils the sausages before they go in the frying pan and James liked that better though they were a bit too crispy. On the right track though.

I tried to catch up on some things today but will have to update the course website tomorrow so that I can copy it for a second version of the course.

approaching 100

James wanted more breakfast materials so I picked up some at Food Basics this morning and made bacon and sausage for breakfast. He claimed that the sausages were not crispy enough. They needed to be more "hotel like". So I have to figure that out.

Bacon tomato pizza for dinner, turned out well.

Reunion

James did a long drive across the country all in one go. Quite a feat. He was tired and sore by the end. He did the chemistry to make a rapid test and he tested negative. He has been eating and drinking a lot and playing online games with his friends.

4 hours

For some reason I only slept 4 hours/night for the last 2 nights. I thought the result of this was that I would accomplish more but I am not sure that is true.

James is planning to start his drive back tomorrow if everything cooperates.

turkey fried rice

I seem to have little success at getting the fried rice to have the crust that the recipe suggests. It still tasted good even without the crust.

Tonight was charred corn on flatbreads.

They announced today that we would be remote until the end of Feb which is not good for these students at all. Everyone is working on pivoting now.

tex mex turkey

I ran some errands in the morning. People seemed pretty anxious in general.

The new toaster arrived today. Haven't tested it yet.

Made tex mex turkey- a black bean salad with turkey on top- was good and healthy too!

too little leaves

The leaves have all fallen and the back neighbour has a new bright back light so I can see it very clearly.

I have been watching the series of seeing things and being amused by the toronto humour of the 80s.

James today was doing community work by recording a video for children learning to read. The hockey team is a big deal in the community.

too much Omicron

They decided to send the students home (after they take a covid test- hopefully they only need a rapid test as you can't get an appointment)

This will likely make things more complicated for next term as we have 2 days of exams to make up at some point as they have indicated that Mon and Tues will be rescheduled. Will we start term late? Who knows. Covid strikes again.

Windstorm

There was a large wind storm last night. I put the recycling boxes in the garage. Everything looks fine from the window right now but I know elsewhere in the city trees came down and many traffic lights are down. Cleanup day today for many people!

Seeing things

I found some old episodes on youtube of "seeing things". It is still really good and Louie is still annoying. I remember enjoying it as a kid.

A week of Omicron

This week I tried to recover from the week away and while I was doing that Omicron was working its way through some residences. Anecdotally it does seem that what they were saying about it being a milder version but more contagious seems to be true. The vaccination doesn't seem to help much against the contagion from the amount of my students testing positive. It made for a lot of emails this week!

James' game today was postponed because of bad weather in N.B.

Here all my snow melted before I had a chance to shovel.

Friday, December 3, 2021

on trees

I have a bunch of photos of some walks around N.B. lots of trees, just haven't downloaded yet. Visiting relatives. Now back in Grand Falls. A tough game for James as the boys weren't quite on their game and had a tough loss. Fredericton has a covid case so the boys needed to get tested again as they had played them Sun. All clear for them for now.

A piece of the wheel well dislodged and had to take it in to get it reattached. 1 week old!

Road trip day 3 - the work day

So many people were helpful and we sorted out all our business that we needed to take care of.

We spent the evening with James' billets who I think will be really good for him. He has to learn to adapt to a new home culture.

Tomorrow we travel to Grand Lake and then onto Moncton.

hotel update

The hotel is really the only big hotel in grand falls and is very nice- much nicer than I expected. Yesterday it was full, full, full. Kids everywhere. But tonight the parking lot is mostly empty, there is no noise. One of the ladies working here commented on how quiet it is, so it must be nice for them as well.

road trip day 2

I went searching for the Grand Falls and was not disappointed! The trail beside it was unmarked but they have ziplining over the falls. I couldn't even go on the viewing platforms that were too far out, ziplining would be a no from me!

Also I saw this restaurant and wondered which of the cuisines the palm trees belonged with

This looked like a church that had been turned into a house

road trip day 1

It was a long drive to Grand Falls- mostly clear but there was one stormy area near Riviere du Loup that was tricky because it was also dark at the time. Most of the drive was very beautiful in seeing the snow layered on the trees.

Last night got to meet James' billet family who are super nice and outgoing and really good for him. He even decorated a Christmas tree (which I never have the energy or drive to do). They have caught onto his quirks quickly noting that they no longer cook anything with "flavor" otherwise he won't eat it. James- blanding families one family at a time.

The hotel is really very nice and spacious but is very full. Lots of children- maybe a hockey tournament? Who knows? Their pool and workout areas are open (not that I would partake in that, just a covid note)

One of the players on Miramishi tested positive for covid. James' team played them on Wed so their game today was up in the air but the team managed to get some rapid tests and the team was all tested this morning and given the all clear for the game. I walked down to the arena and took the pictures above before the bus left.

Then I went to the Toyota where the old car was. It really doesn't look too bad except for the front bumper. If I had been here I would have had better questions to ask the collision guy but as James was handling it, he didn't know the right questions to ask.

While James is playing the game today I am planning to walk to try to find the Grand Falls!

break down

Today I did an in person day at work. 7 hours in person and then 5 hours at home trying to catch up. It was vaguely normal and vaguely weird.

When I got home the furnace was not working. Then the toaster died. 2021 when the machines abandon us.

Friday, November 19, 2021

november marching on

 is it getting better?

Well, covid is creeping closer. A friend diagnosed with cancer. A baby with a difficult diagnosis. Lots of challenges. The week has been challenging.

But I won my appeal at work, so that was good.

Birthday week

My birthday itself was good getting to see my parents and the feast that Kim and Zully put on and getting to see Joanne. So that was good.

Monday was not good as the car was messed up.

I am working hard on Winter term now, launching project ranking and working on hiring, trying to get all the pieces in place.

Yesterday I made a turkey rice bowl that we have had before. Today made Mumbai style potatoes which was a new recipe for us- it was good.

Had my e-group in the evening.

Tomorrow evening I have a presentation to do on the projects.

bored meeting

We joke and call our board meetings bored meetings. We are heading into a transition time on the board as well as a transition time as we work toward in person meetings again.

At work we are talking about the return to in person and the thought that things will go back to as they were. I was encouraging that we should think about what was learned and what is better to do remotely.

As our Fall term course is wrapping up I am starting to work on Winter ones.

I need to change my password at work which happens every 4 months and causes chaos every time as that password is linked to so many different things. I try to do this at night so that everything has time to synch before morning. But morning will be a challenge.

special delivery

Typically our chefs plate box arrives around lunchtime but occasionally arrives later. Yesterday while it was the typical white van delivering, it was not the typical driver. The last few months had been a lady driver and she carefully reads the instructions of where to put the box. Yesterday is was a tall young man maybe just a bit older than James. The sound of the van was very loud as he was playing music I guess. He pulled up the van across the street, went round to get a box and then sprinted to the house across the road who apparently also gets a box. Then he sprinted back to the van and picked up my box, sprinted across the road in front of a UPS truck, sprinted to the steps and then tossed the box on the porch upside down. Luckily they pack those boxes well and no hard was done but the lad was clearly in a hurry!

Today had an indian halloumi dish and yesterday was a thai beef bowl. Both were repeats from the past. The next 2 meals are turkey enchiladas (a repeat) and a new one -mediterranean rainbow veggie bowl with goat cheese. Sounds interesting.

project returns

It was a busy week this week with lots of activities to get done for the students like returning projects. Mon and Tues I was up until 2am!

Today was a more fun day as my parents came to visit and we did lunch and some walking. James called in the evening expecting them still to be there.

His billets left him alone in the house and he had to make chicken fingers and juice by himself. Growth.

Saturday, October 30, 2021

the first game

It was a long week, we had a lot of training sessions and meetings. This week nothing is due on the weekend so that will help. James had a interesting week trying to get everything sorted out. The phone still isn't working right apparently. He also got a flat tire. They had their first game today and  for the first time in a while won. Hopefully the tide is turning with them.

Saturday, October 23, 2021

the big adventure

James got traded to Grand Falls and is on his way across the country so we've been busy preparing. Still having to work out the phone plan. Hoping that he has all that he needs for the trip!

roofers came back

The roofers were back at 7am so it was another loud day. But it looks maybe like they are done now. Their portapotty still remains so I am not sure. We'll see at 7am tomorrow!

flooding in all the wrong places

There was water flooding on Patrick St.

There was crowd flooding in the university area

Pictures from Twitter, not myself!

the rain that should have kept the roofers at bay

Woke up this morning to buckets of rain coming down. Changed my plans about running some errands!

The roofers are indeed at bay though they may not have been planning to work on Saturday anyway. I wonder if the rain kept the parties at bay?

Friday, October 15, 2021

rain keeps roofers at bay

There was some rain in the early morning that evidently put off the roofers so it was a quiet day today. There is some rain forecast tonight which may put off the partiers that the city is so worried about.

I had an eye exam today so my eyes are very tired. I had to make a decision about frames with weak eyes.

Thursday, October 14, 2021

I was wrong about the roofing

While they had taken down the rickety fence on the east side closest to me, the rickety fence on other sides are still up. Making a lot of noise and smells. Looks like there is still a way to go.

I woke up at 6am and the roofers arrived at 7am. They have a routine.

I have been working to catch up on my email.

Wednesday, October 13, 2021

roofing

For the last few days the apartment building behind us has been having its roof done. They had to have a crane thing as the roof was pretty high. They started at 7am every morning with very loud gear. They had a rickety wooden fence around the outside of the roof. Yesterday it smelled very bad as they must have been tarring. Today they took the rickety fence down and we hammering things at the edge of the roof. I was worried that they took down the rickety fence too early but it was all good.

The 401 was closed for the day after a nasty accident with transports last night. It appears to still be closed.

2 outbreaks

There were 2 outbreaks listed for Kingston today. One listed as "other" with 5 active cases. One listed as "retail" with 9 active cases. But no other details. No cases on the Queen's case tracker though so not at Queen's.

I went to Loblaws early in the morning, not many people about. Biked into work to pick up a test and deliver it. Lots of meetings and a training session done even though classes are out for the week.

Thanksgiving

Yesterday James did his longest drive to Brighton so we could see my parents. He did well, though it was still stressful. It was nice to see the parents and hang out in Brighton for a bit.

I didn't sleep well in the night, waking for things in the garden and firetrucks.

a long week

It was a long week and I didn't get much sleep so I went to bed early last night. The photos are from before the busy week where I hung out with a bunny in the back yard and a picture from Churchill park with what Clara called the Bermuda plants.

This week we had an in person test and another visit from Clara. Kim's mum is now at home which she appreciates but it is a lot of work.

Green tea

I ran out of my regular herbal tea and had some green tea yesterday. May explain why I had difficulty getting to sleep as I'm guessing there is caffeine in it. So despite being so tired it took ages to get to sleep. Then I woke up at 5am. Went to Loblaws and picked up some sale butter. Then went for a walk with Kim. Weather was lovely.

Then needed a nap!

A weary week

Watch out for the volcanic cash!

It was a long week as my laptop battery died and I had to get a new laptop and am now working on transferring things over. I told James I am going to bed. And he said it is only 9pm and I was like yes, that is how done I am.

Timeline

I woke at 5am thinking that James was calling me but apparently he did not. Though he had a bad night as well. We had a timeline for a plan for the day but he was not able to get up.

I biked to Metro at 8am. Things were nice and quiet.

I watched Elevation and Rustle and did a bunch of scheduling.

venturing

Today was my first day out in quite a few days, I did some shopping. We are working on some interesting studios for next week. And trying to plan a test all at the same time as answering all the email so I didn't get to the course enrollments that I planned to do.

Thursday, September 23, 2021

rain rain and more rain

It has been a very rainy few days. I thought it looked like it was clearing when James went to physio but it was a trick and he was very wet on his journey. He has also given up the Trenton dream as he is not healing quickly enough.

I was working on getting an assignment back to the students. Have not got out of the house for days. Need to get groceries. Chicken fajita bowl tonight.

extra delays

There was an error in the quiz this week so I had to manually fix things. This delayed my plans for the day.

Lots of rain today so I didn't really get outside.

Tuesday, September 21, 2021

the grass is mostly dead

Yesterday I mowed the mostly dead lawn. But I needed to get some of the edges trimmed.

Today we had to deal with some teaming issues and we did some training. More training tomorrow!

Thursday, September 16, 2021

day of email

So much email today. Did not make much headway. James had physio. My eyes were pretty buggy by the end. Turkey curry for dinner.

Wednesday, September 15, 2021

Clara!

Yesterday was a day of meetings and training. As soon as I finished the training session Clara picked me up and we went to the Kelsey's patio. It was nice enough outside and we chatted for quite a while.

After I got home the bathroom sink had plugged. I plunged it for a while and got it flowing a little bit. I put some bleach down and today it seems to be working.

I was up very late as I couldn't sleep and tried to finish up some email.

Today Clara and I went for a short walk in the morning and then I had a day of meetings.

Tex mex meatloaves and cilantro rice for dinner.

E-group after dinner

the decapitated head of a wasp

I found a wasp inside the window and I killed it with a fly swatter. The killing decapitated the wasp and the body fell on the sill but the head fell to the bottom of the screen and continued looking at me. Some other wasps gathered quickly outside. I understood their concern but didn't worry to much about it. When I came out in the morning, the head was gone. But it wasn't actually gone. Something had dragged the head UP the screen about a meter and the head was jammed in the screen at the top instead of the bottom!

I slept well last night, which was good.

Monday, September 13, 2021

sirens in the night

Last night was a pretty bad night. I had difficulty getting to sleep. Then when I did nod off, there were sirens that woke me. So the day was not as productive as I had hoped.

I watched a midsomer murder 9pm on TVO. So very good.

Saturday, September 11, 2021

interruptions

Yesterday I woke up early- at 5am. I'm not sure why but I thought if I'm up so early I would go to Lake Ontario Park, so that was a nice treat. The day was full of email and stress. I expected an easy day but it was more challenging that expected.

Today it wasn't a great night and then at 8am I heard someone doing some building or something. I came out of a sleep and wandered around trying to find what it was. I finally saw that a neighbour was re-roofing their garage (which has a bit of a lean to it). It looks good and they finished by lunchtime.

Friday, September 10, 2021

vibes

I biked down to Metro on the first day of school and the street vibes were just like any other first day of school. That felt good. I didn't leave the house on day 2. Today was day 3 - I went to Food Basics before work and then worked a long day preparing for our training session and running it. It feels like the worst is over for right now though. If that is accurate or not remains to be seen.

James did his first solo drive yesterday. It bothered his shoulder but he was pleased with himself. He can raise the arm now.

Thursday, September 9, 2021

snowbirds

The snowbirds flew over my house today, so majestic!

Got through a lot of work today. Made turkey larb bowls- one of the easiest chef's plate that I have made.

Had egroup meeting and then worked some more.

Have to wake up early as I learned that tonight is the night to put 2 garbage bags out so I need to put one more bag together to add to the garbage as this is a rare occurance!

Tuesday, September 7, 2021

are we ready?

A few crises in the evening but everything sorted so far. We'll see if all the rooms are ready as they have been closed since march 2020. Hopefully all goes well!

Monday, September 6, 2021

the long road to start of class

I woke up at 6:30am as there were firetrucks going to the new unity point place.

I got back to sleep and then woke up around 9 and I hopped to Loblaws. It was busier when I normally I am there. But they had not done much restocking since I was there last. It seems sort of pandemic-like.

I watched Elevation and Rustle in the morning and then worked all afternoon and evening. Got all the students assigned to PMs. Need to make up the spreadsheet tomorrow.

Saturday, September 4, 2021

normal

It is normal for just before the first week of class. I was answering email until midnight. I still need to get contracts done and leaders assigned for all the groups.

I did get some groceries in the morning and Loblaws wasn't too busy. In the afternoon I biked down to Rustle's bank to deposit some things so I did get some exercise.

Wednesday, September 1, 2021

high season

Yesterday I worked about 15 hours ending at 1am. Then you would think I would be tired but probably on an adrenaline high so I didn't sleep.

Went to a graduation ceremony at 8am and full on meetings until 4:30pm. Got through some of my email after that and worked on the groupings for the geology course. Have to send an email to the students in the morning. Still testing some things in my site.

Have 5 open IT tickets. That may be a record for me.

My phone plan hasn't sorted out yet so I'll have to contact them again tomorrow and my work email doesn't seem to work with my new phone.

Saturday, August 28, 2021

Harvey's

James wanted Harvey's tonight so I ordered online and was only in the store for less than a minute to pick up. A fancy new pandemic feature. However, it seemed more expensive than before the pandemic. It cost over $30. And Chef's plate is only about $20 and way healthier. but James was pleased anyway.

I got the Mod 2 groupings done and sent off and started work on the course website. Tomorrow I have to finish that website and fix another website that is acting up. We have not received all our parts for our project so we may have to rethink the project. The fun of the last week before classes start. I probably should work on enrollments tomorrow as well as the enrollment site opens to students again on Monday and tends to get bogged down when that happens. So a lot on deck!

Friday, August 27, 2021

Grouping

The last 24 hours have been focused on working on grouping. I stayed up very late working on them and I finished up just before lunch and then in a meeting with ITS about something else convinced them to upload my file. So now I need to do the clean up. Then hoping to release them on Monday.

Still a lot to do on the weekend.

Monday, August 23, 2021

Monday

James had difficulty sleeping because of the arm but has taken it easy today and seems to be improving. He has a physio appointment tomorrow to check him out.

I was in meetings today like all day and only survived the day by working most of the weekend. I would say most of the students are in their fall term classes, though we are still waiting on the province to waive social distancing in order to roll out the classes in 2 weeks. About 200 emails clicked in while I was in all the meetings.

arm drama

James hit the ice during a game and injured his shoulder. Had to spend many hours in the hospital but he is ok. He was very hungry by the end of the day so he got Dominos as comfort food to make him feel better.

Saturday, August 21, 2021

Raccoon on the job site

This morning I biked to Metro and as I was walking by a large construction site there was a construction worker walking out with a live trap with a very large racoon inside it. The raccoon didn't seem angry just confused. I wondered where he was taking him. Just funny to see.

progress

I didn't sleep well last night being woken up a few times due to sirens and at 5am due to racoons. I did get to Lake Ontario Park which was very nice early. I saw a heron but didn't take a picture as I didn't want to disturb it. Everything seems to have cooled off a bit so I wore long sleeves and a sweater.

In the morning I watched Elevation and Rustle online.

I saw Sarah before dinner, then made dinner, did personal email, Rustle finances and then worked for a few hours on work email just to make sure that I make it through the day tomorrow. Lots of meetings!

I also meant to write about the trip of James' laptop last week. His laptop broke and I ordered a new one. It left from Ottawa due to arrive the next day. The next day it arrived in St. Laurent, QC and apparently "missed its connection". It spent the day in Quebec and apparently caught the connection the next day which saw it travel to Guelph and then to Kingston!

Penguin chicks rescued by unlikely hero | Spy in the Snow - BBC

on the go

Yesterday Kim and I went for a walk at 6am. While we did not see many people, we had been thinking we would see more wildlife. It was a good time to go for a walk if you like quiet. By 7am there were some dog walkers out. We got back and then I biked to Metro for chicken and walked to Shoppers for eggs. Then I ran a bunch of other errands so was out until 2pm. Looking at my tracker it was about 10km of walking and 4 km of biking.

Today I may bike down to lake ontario park as I am up early enough. I have to bike to deliver things later in the afternoon but expect to have a more at home day than yesterday. I have to clean the bathrooms and the dishes and laundry, do Rustle finances and answer work email.

Unseen

I meant to write on Tuesday as there were some things I saw that I wished could be unseen so I had the post all planned but then I don't know what happened so here was the planned post. I biked to Metro then on the bike ride back I saw a lady stop briefly at the stop sign and look briefly down the street and immediately pulled out. She hadn't seem me at all but I was back far enough that is was ok.

The traffic light ahead was red so she had to stop. She wanted to turn left. Even though the light was still red, she rolled forward until she was all the way through the intersection and then she made her left. All while the light was red. The car in the right hand lane honked at her but she didn't care. She was gone.

Later in the day I was working at my computer and I saw the neighbour son come out of the shed and instead of walking a few feet to the house he dropped his drawers and peed against the shed. It really wasn't far to the house!

Then that night we had the biggest thunderstorm. So loud and light. The ground was shaking. Sirens were shooting through the town. I wasn't really able to sleep after that. So I went into a full day of meetings with almost no sleep.

Todd mentioned that I seemed like a very worn out version of myself. 2021 has been much more difficult than 2020.

The rain poured down again at noon and I had to take my laundry in and got soaked in the process. But as quickly as it came it went and I got the laundry  out again.

Today I went to Food Basics and picked up some basics. I had hoped to pick up some bags for our course materials (we need 400) but the packages were too small. So Deborah came to the rescue and picked some up at Costco for me.

The problems to solve have ratchet up to 100 as we are in the end stage of our march to September. I am too tired tonight to manage too much more.

Monday, August 9, 2021

keeping track

My work email keeps track of how many emails I send. It is a lot. I am tired!

Today was a very stressful day and I didn't even get through everything I wanted to get through. The emails do get in the way of actually getting through work!

Had to order James a new laptop because his went kaput.

black water dish

When we started having hot days I put a black plastic take out container with water in it. The grackles are over the moon for it. The squirrels like it as well and sometimes tip it over. Then the grackles will peck at it until I fill it up again.

I went to Shoppers this morning and as I walked home I saw a male cardinal that had been killed by a car. So very sad as the cardinal couple had been a staple in the neighbourhood.

I had planned on being more productive this evening but I found out that midsomer murders are on at 9pm on Sundays and that sucked away some of my time.

Simone to bronze

I was up really early for 3 days in a row for the event finals then I was busy loading students into courses. So it has been a busy week. Today I took a break to walk for a few hours with Deborah. I got my new amazon order of power pods and I am trying the first one out with some very dirty whites. We'll see if it is as successful as with hockey equipment. James is in a hockey tournament this weekend so there will be more hockey things for the power pods soon.

Danish Road Safety Council / Helmet has always been a good idea

Jade to gold

Woke up early again for final session #2. It was also worth it to see the women compete their best for the most part.

Waiting to hear from Kim to see if she wants to walk.

I have some course loading to do later.

disintegrating crown

When I went to the dentist to get my failed real crown they had been hoping that my temporary crown had fallen off. But it is hanging on. It is getting a bit spongey though.

I woke up very early to watch event finals. It was worth it though TSN switched which channel the competition was on at some point and it took me some time to figure that out.

Then I biked down to Metro to pick up some meat and went to shoppers to pick up some sales.

Then I started the long process of loading the students into courses. There was something wrong with the labs for one course so it took me some time to fix that. But I got it done.

Because of the early start I am ready for bed now. Will just do a few more chores to keep myself awake. There is another final tomorrow morning that I'll think I'll be up for. Kim and I are thinking of going for a walk if everything is good.

preparation

I spent the day preparing for the block load of classes. I am getting close to getting the schedules out. The next thing is to get contracts out for the TAs.

Also am preparing to get up early in the morning to watch the Olympics.

packed day

I'm trying to get things ready for the block load but have so many emails and things to do it is difficult to make progress. I went to Food Basics before the day started and took the car in for an oil change.

I need to tackle my to do list tomorrow and then hopefully make some progress in the block load.

kestrel in the hood

Last night I stayed up late watching gymnastics subdivision 1 and 2. When I woke up in the morning subdivision 5 was still going on. This issue when the olympics are on the other side of the world. Also qualifications takes a long time.

I biked to Metro to get some meat. Driving back I was passing by Churchill Park and out of the corner of my eye I saw some birds. A blue jay and another bird that I didn't really see were coming against a small hawk like bird that flew a few meters over my head. It happened very fast but was interesting!

I watched Elevation and Rustle and then watched subdivision 5. I hadn't seen the US as they weren't in the subdivisions that I got on TSN3 so I watched them in the evening on NBC.

power pods

I received a free sample of tide power pods and I washed James' hockey equipment with them and -miracle- they don't smell anymore. These must have been made by a hockey parent.

This morning I went to food basics. It was busier than usual for 8am. There was no more greeter at the door. The sign said that over 500 people were allowed inside. I can't imagine 500 people inside.

This week in the meal kit we had "doubles" which I noticed in the french was "rotis". Once of my favourite meals so far.

Today was mexican street corn linguine.

At work we are in the heat of timetabling and I am trying to get things set for the block load of courses.
