on the move

Today my parents were on the move- selling their house.

I was at Rustle moving things out for the auction.

I had put an old chicken carcass in the green bin, which resulted in maggots that fell off the green bin. Which resulted in many happy birds. Out of death comes life!

Recovery

Today I hung out 2 loads of laundry to dry. Went to Loblaws for groceries. Washed lots of dishes. Took a nap. Mowed the lawn and trimmed some bushes. There was one bush hiding under an overgrown one!

There was another bush that I trimmed (same kind, they evidently grow well in this climate) but the change was not so dramatic:

So, still on tap for tonight- more laundry, making dinner and the B'ette on TV. Hopefully to bed early. Tomorrow will be a long day at work as I will block load all the students. James has a hockey camp this week- he needs to get up earlier for a hockey camp than he did for school. I'm so sure he appreciates this fact!

Behind a few weeks

I was very busy the last few weeks. Last weekend, we went to visit my parents. Then I was in Toronto for a conference. Then went back to work, had a board meeting, a Pre-cry rally and then yesterday the whole day was the CRY, which was amazing indeed. I just downloaded the pictures from the CRY but they don't really tell the story of the day.

 My first job was parking. It was very wet and damp. My feet were soaked at this point. Everyone was really friendly and waved at me while they were parking. They didn't mind too much that they had to park on a mucky field.

 10am

 I moved on to ushering. This was very loosely organized but I helped out where I could.

 At 11:30 we took communion together with other communities in Ottawa, Montreal and I think one other location. We used cute communion cups that had a little wafer packaged on top.

 It was pretty rainy the whole time but noone seemed to mind. Then at 1pm I had to find the media booth. It was hard to find directions to the place. This picture I took from the front while people tried to figure it out.

 Then I spent 6.5 hours in the control room of the technical portion of the event. It was certainly a more challenging task! When I emerged, it was sunny! My feet were still soaked though.

Today my legs were sore, I had many blisters and bandages but it was all worth it!

bigger challenges

There are many more challenging things and things that are challenging that don't need to be. For example, the Rustle property tax bill was misplaced, but we still want to pay the bill. They have resent it but they won't tell me how much it was for as my name is not on the bill. We just want to pay the bill!

James has 3 exams tomorrow. Hoping he gets to bed early!

Challenges

We had a good service at Rustle, then picked up some juice on the way home. (James drinks a lot of juice- not apple juice anymore!)
I started the dinner and the laundry and was pretty tired so I took a nap.

Yesterday I spent some time cleaning James' room. I am not sure what had been attracting the ants but the sweep of cleaning seemed to help and there don't seem to be any left.

James (and all high school students) have exams starting this week. We tried to work on it tonight.

the return

Eventually made it in 3 hours late. Was busy at work the last 2 days trying to catch up from being away.

At lunch yesterday I hung our with Lisa. It was good to catch up.

Last night I went to a presentation that some of my friends were in called "Rhinoceros" based on the Ionescu play. It was quite fun and interestingly modernized. But it meant I got in quite late and so have lots of housework to get to today.

This morning I got groceries, did some yard work and some laundry.
In the afternoon I have to catch up on dishes, deal with James' room (he developed ants while I was away) and finish up the Church revenue Canada stuff.

 The license plates were defective so these were turned in and they handed me new plates. Other than the line up at MYO , that was easy!

 A poor bird died in the front garden. It was really beautiful but I didn't know what it was. Wish it had lived!
